There are only two plays for hiring in 2025... so you need to work out now what approach will work for you.
Why only two types of hire I hear you say?
2024 employment trends: tighter budgets, more time in the office required, leaner teams, redundancies, and acquisitions.
All this creates a justifiable wariness in the market and reduces the appeal of cash and a title when set against a choppy market.
And 2025 is going to be more of the same.
A £5k increase in your salary isn't going to convince people that you are 'the one' for them.
The opportunity has to be worth the market turbulence.
Or
The security you can provide needs to be worth the higher salary being offered elsewhere.
People are moving for ‼️OPPORTUNITY‼️ OR ‼️ SECURITY‼️
You can boil almost every candidate's decision down to this.
I've seen talent walk away from an extra £10k to take a solid role in a really well-run stable family business.
I've seen other candidates enticed into taking roles in 'risky' categories because they really believe in the vision, and crucially in the people sat in front of them and where they will take their career.
In both those scenarios, the money was secondary.
If you don't know which one you're selling, then your screwed.
Everything else is a hygiene factor.
You need to recognise your core offering to the talent you want in your business, and then have the humility to sell this; and then put candidate experience front and square in your process.
Do this and YOU will WIN. 🏆
