People often tell me what pisses them off about the jobs market. And I’ve noticed a trend. It’s not recruiters anymore….

(there’s still some bad offenders I know.), but it’s not this bunch of aging pirates that are the main source of frustration.
The biggest baddie in finding a new job is now - clunky candidate experience.
One that dehumanises experience and makes people feel like a commodity moving through a factory, rather than a real human being who has invested time in your application process.
Some key offenders include:
Unweildy ATS systems and application forms that eats up an entire evening. (What’s wrong with a CV?)
Surprise competency interviews with a People Manager who has the poker face of a saloon bar hustler.
Lengthy, burdensome recruitment processes with little feedback between stages where the ‘not knowing’ is way worse than rejection.
3rd stage interviews (and beyond!) resulting in a never-ending Groundhog Day of slow Dejavu whilst the hiring manager waits on the final signature needed for an offer that should have followed the day after.
Even worse! -
If the application process leaves a bad taste in the mouth for your candidates then you’re leaving good quality free rec adverting on that table of yours.
People talk, so give them something good to talk about! Just do the basics well and you’ll stand out.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it 😜 🚬🍺
