Right then - something I have been asked lot in the last 3 weeks is...

"How much should I be paid if I am hauling ass on c£50-100m+ of P&L for a big private label food company..."
Somewhere between £60-90K + Car + Bonus.
But, and this is the big BUTT.... 🍑 (sorry - childish)
It ACTUALLY depends how good you are. Sounds stupidly obvious - I suppose it is 🤷♂️
But, it is funny what money does to the space between people's heads sometimes. I should know... any way we digress...
SO! Here is what you really need - a rock solid way to assess how good you are. Once you know, you'll find it easier shake out some more change from Scrooge Mcduck when you're negotiating in that all-important performance & pay review...
Check out the below. Score yourself 1-10. If you're any less than a 7, work on your numbers before you ask for more change.
🪙 What level do you face into? Buying, Buying Manager? Category Director? Are you wrestling with spider monkeys or gorillas?
🪙 Are you an absolutely weapon of a solider - who the top brass can simply point and shoot, or are you still in the high potential and needy?
🪙 Can you get around the Manufacturing sites without A) being tarred and feathered B) p*ssing people off with your clueless salesy demeanour?
🪙 Do you solve problems before you put your hand up , or are you the one that always brings bad news..?
🪙 Do you have an edge and some teeth; do the people who need to know understand that you have a useful disagreeable streak, obedient but ready to fly like a well trained pitbull?
🪙 Have you got a rock solid track record and can you be 'trusted with the baby' when sensitive opportunities open up?
🪙Is your 'word' (what we know call your 'personal brand' - yawn) relentlessly dependable?
🪙Can you tell your boss 'no' when it's justified and hold your boundaries?
🪙 Are you a team player who looks out for others?
🪙Do you actually understand how the factory works and how it impacts your back end - CoGs?
🪙AND, crucially does Janine in accounts like you? (she is the secret weapon for Tracey the Sales Director you see, when it comes to all vetting on ability and fit...)
