How do I get what I want from Salary Negotiations?
Knowing the difference between why you want to personally earn more, and why you're worth more to a business is key to negotiating that higher salary.
You've got to demonstrate value. Get the elephant in the room out of the way, you're an unproven entity to that business, so you've got to prove that your skills and expertise can provide value in their world that they don't already have.
A great performance in a second-stage interview that addresses the business's needs, demonstrates a high level of self-awareness and shows the value that you could offer them.
So, if you're going to ask for that step up in salary when interviewing, make sure you can meet their needs and offer them something they don't already have.
