How can I Improve my CV?

First impressions are always the most important. That's no different here - ensure your CV flows well, looks smart and is easy to read. Struggling to find a layout you like? Well, this is how we would do it:

  • Profile: A CV is crammed full of info, but people often neglect the part Hiring Managers want to hear the most. Your Story. Think of this as an elevator pitch to sell yourself. The reader needs to understand your journey, whilst also displaying your ambition and willingness to take on any challenge in front of you.

  • Skills: Rattle off your skills here! Don't hide them at the bottom - We want the hiring manager to know how brilliant you are right off the rip, don't we?

  • Employment History: The Bulk of your CV - here you need to fully explain your responsibilities in the role. Tell the tale. Explain how you added value in the role and how your expertise delivered success ( Include as many numbers and stats as you can).

  • Early Career: A Part-time role? A Degree Project? Voluntary work? Whack it here if you feel it's relevant for the role you're applying for, no matter how small you think it may be.

  • Education: Degrees, Courses, and your brilliant accolades live here.

  • Interests: Another section which is undervalued by many. Use this as a great way to showcase your drive & motivation outside of work to further demonstrate your personality. Hey, something you jot down here could be a great conversation starter in an interview, too!

No one wants to live in a messy house, no one wants to read a messy CV! Make sure you spend some time re-reading your CV to ensure all spelling and grammatical errors are cleaned up.

Is my CV too long?

2 pages max? No, not necessarily.

As we've discussed up top, your CV is YOUR story. You should include all info you think is relevant for the role you're applying for - if that takes up a few pages, no bother!
